These few chapters of the book “Brain Storms” actually showed me how less little I know about Parkinson’s disease. I’ve always thought it’s mostly a shaking body. Now I know how important it is to make society aware of this disease. It was said in chapter 2 that people can look at a person with PD, judge her and even call her an alcoholic simply because they don’t know that it’s a sickness.
It’s sad that there is no cure for PD but there is still hope in people like Pamela Quinn. She can be a role model for everyone suffering from PD. She shows that you can always try to overcome appearing obstacles with your mind. It can help at least to adust to the condition.
I also think that the issue of the functioning brain hidden in a ‘frozen’ body is interesting and worth finding more information about it.
